Today's news:
No we're not talking about recycling your toilet bowl....just yet. But come to think of it, that might just be right around the corner! Light from toots! Well, finally we are beginning to address the human waste issue on planet! The potential for energy from waste is finally being acknowledged as a key tool in managing growing landfill sites and in the continual development of a sustainable energy infrastructure. However, even with this huge potential and opportunity Energy from Waste is still facing enormous economic, technical and social challenges. And this September 28-29 at the Crowne Plaza hotel in London, about 50 companies are participating already to discuss it all. Want to lecture,  get involved, or just visit the Crown Plaza loo? You still can!

Today's News:
Shhhhh! Don't tell the electric companies! Apparently, like every other DYI home project, it's not that hard to craft your own solar panels. Now that enough of us have caught on to the light and joined the eco-save-the-planet craze, there are enough 'other human beings' endeavoring collectively and as a result, some nifty and neat-o ideas are spilling right out of our computers and onto our living room floors. If we are creative, and have the time to lend a few hours to good old fashioned elbow grease - perhaps we little people can one day actually have a few dollars left over after taxes, mortgages and monthly bills. Free, free...set them free Sting once sang. Perhaps he was on to a really great concept before his time!

DYI solar cells or thousands of $ for a company to put em up for you? YOU decide!

Today's News: The old phrase, 'All I want is a house and a boat' is about to be major-league revised. Solar boats, once thought of as just a kooky 60's psychedelic dream are about to become a lake's permanent and very happy new reality as more and more people begin to look into enviro-friendly recreation vehicles. Ironic it is, that an idea that used to be riddled with ridicule, is fast becoming a boating trend. Let's look at the reasons why.

1) Solar power is a non-pollutant energy force. It won't contaminate the water with oils or other toxic debris. 2) Solar boats are quiet...a fisherman's delight! What vacationer hasn't dreaded nasty water noise made by passing jet skis and motor boats? 3) They are cost effective. Who wants to haul out a gas jug with them each time they want to leisurely float about? Solar saves money!

And when there's extra cash in pocket, that new bathroom light fixture that needs replacing suddenly becomes an easy fix. Just order the light online and hire an electrician. Presto-bingo! Job done with time to spare and off to the lake we go!

Today's News:
Solar electric systems harness the power of the sun and supply you with clean energy at a fraction of cost of normal electric power bills. In the past year, the economic slide has skyrocketed gas and electric bills for average homeowners - choking their ability to manage any kind of decent standard of living. Now that enough solar companies have begun to establish themselves and solar panel design is becoming more efficient and affordable, people en masse are beginning to make the shift to solar power.
No longer considered an overly expensive novelty, it's cleaner, more cost effective and is becoming a home investment product that any homeowner now can easily understand.

Today's News: Go Yahoo! Yahoo’s co-founder David Filo, together with New York Governor David Paterson and Senator Chuck Schumer announced plans to build the greenest and most energy-efficient data centers in the world. Instead of purchasing carbon offsets that it announced in 2007, it will focus its resources on reducing its carbon impact while helping the industry to do the same. Filo noted the company would be “investing millions to design facilities that make the best use of the energy we consume.”

Today's News:
Here's a fascinating look beyond the advertising hype that consumers are buying into regarding 'saving energy' with compact florescent light bulbs.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, lighting in the U.S. accounts for 22% of electricity consumption and costs American’s $58 billion a year. If every American home replaced just one light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb, it would save $600 million per year in energy costs and prevent greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 800,000 cars. So to arrive on the scene to combat this problem came the CFL's (Compact Florescent Light Bulbs).

Unfortunately, info that reaches the public doesn't necessarily account for the complete life cycle of these new energy saving bulbs.  Ends up - CFL's might just be neck and neck with the old fashioned incandescent's after all. See what you think. Click this link for this very interesting in-depth article.
